He
is a lawyer by profession and a middle distance runner by avocation (inactive).

was awarded the first NATATANGING ALUMNI
(Outstanding Alumni) for Government Service and Extension by the UP
Industrial Relations Alumni Association-UP Alumni Association Chapter, on November 19, 2005.

March 4, 2008, he was chosen one of the OUTSTANDING ALUMNUS – in the field of
Government Service, by the Lyceum of the Philippines University.
He has
to his credit two (2) baccalaureate
degrees, Bachelor of Arts (AB),
as Entrance-Partial Scholar and Bachelor of Laws (Ll.B.).
To
quench his thirst for knowledge, he went back to the university for graduate
studies, as a working student and finished Diploma in Industrial Relations and
Master of Industrial Relations (MIR), in 1986 and 1987, respectively, at the UP
Institute of Industrial Relations, now UP Graduate School of Labor & Industrial
Relations (UP SOLAIR). He has completed
the academic requirements for his Master of Laws (LL.M) degree and working
towards finishing his thesis/dissertation.

Commission (NLRC), a quasi-judicial and an attached agency of DOLE.
